New Delhi: Priyanka Gandhi will campaign for the Congress Party in
the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Up until now, she had
campaigned only in Amethi and Rae Bareli, the constituencies of her
brother and mother respectively.

The strategy has been planned to
counter Narendra Modi’s campaign blitz.

This is the first time
that Priyanka will campaign all over the country. But she herself won’t
be contesting the Lok Sabha elections, yet.

However, when the reports created created flutter in the Congress camp,
Ajay Maken, alleged that certain news channels are divert attentions from
the Madhya Pradesh temple tragedy.

"We condemn news channels that have claimed Priyanka Gandhi will be
campaigning across the nation. There is no truth in this news, it has been
floated to divert attention from failure of BJP's government in Madhya
Pradesh," said Maken, Congress media in-charge.

In the past the 40-year-old Priyanka has been the party’s star
campaigner in the boroughs of her brother’s seat Amethi and Rae Bareli.

During
election campaigns she has been seen interacting with the common folk, and
apparently enjoys talking to them. She intends to serve the people without
actively joining politics.

It has been noted by the party that
she is level-headed and organized and has got all the ability to become a
good mass leader.

However, she has asserted in the past that she
was never interested in joining politics.

The Congress is also
reworking on the factors that contributed to the party's rout.

Despite
frequent roadshows and public meetings by Rahul Gandhi and sister
Priyanka, the Congress performed terribly in the assembly elections of
Uttar Pradesh last year.

It will be interesting to observe
whether she will take the most famous political dynasties in the country
to a larger height.

Priyanka Vadra is the second child of late
Rajiv Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. She is married to Delhi businessman Robert
Vadra. They have two children, Raihan and Miraya.
