How to check if your PAN is linked with Aadhaar in One Minute?
Did you know that linking your PAN and Aadhaar is crucial to file Income Tax Returns?
Which means, that taxpayers who had filed their ITRs for FY 2016-17 without linking their PAN with Aadhaar, need to link it in order to get their ITRs processed by the Income Tax Department. The last date to do so is 31st March 2019 for these taxpayers.
Also, the government has hinted time and again that if an individual fails to link his PAN with Aadhaar, then the PAN could become invalid. Although the government is yet to announce a deadline for the same, but individuals must not wait for the deadline to arrive and link their PAN with Aadhaar ID.
Linking your PAN with Aadhaar is an easy task, and anyone can do it himself/herself by visiting the Income Tax Department’s official website - incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. On the left sidebar, under Quick Links, you’ll find ‘Link Aadhaar’ tab.
On the next page, you need to furnish details like your PAN, Aadhaar Number, Name as per Aadhaar, enter the captcha code or ask for OTP.
Click on Link Aadhaar and there you go!
You can now check your status if your Permanent Account Number i.e. PAN is successfully linked with Aadhaar or not, by clicking on ‘Click here to view the status if you have already submitted Link Aadhaar request.’
Again enter your PAN and Aadhaar Number and click on View Link Aadhaar Status and you’ll know if you are complying with the government’s request for linking PAN with Aadhaar!
