Lok Sabha elections: Wrestler Great Khali campaigns for BJP's Jadavpur candidate Anupam Hazra
Wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known by the ring name 'The Great Khali', on Friday joined the campaigning of BJP's Lok Sabha candidate from West Bengal's Jadavpur Anupam Hazra.
The BJP candidate held the roadshow with Khali from Ranikuthi crossing in Jadavpur to Alipur DM office. The wrestler was also present at the time of Hazra's nomination time at the DM office.
Hazra, who had recently switched over from Trinomool Congress, will take on actor Mimi Chakraborty, a TMC candidate, in Jadavpur.
Lok Sabha polls are being held in seven-phases for 543 seats on April 11, April 18, April 23, April 29, May 6, May 12 and May 19. The fourth phase of polling on April 29, will feature eight constituencies - Baharampur, Krishnanagar, Ranaghat, Bardhaman East, Bardhaman-Durgapur, Asansol, Bolpur and Birbhum.
In the fifth phase, voters of seven constituencies in and around Gangetic West Bengal - Bangaon, Barrackpur, Howrah, Uluberia, Srerampur, Hooghly, Arambag - will exercise their democratic choice on May 6.
Eight more constituencies - Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram, Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura, Bishnupur - will witness polling in the sixth round on May 12. A number of these constituencies fall within the once Maoist-affected Jangalmahal area.
The remaining nine constituencies-- Dum Dum, Barasat, Basirhat, Joynagar, Mathurapur, Diamond Harbour, Jadavpur, Kolkata South and Kolkata North - situated within North and South 24 Parganas and Kolkata, will be up for grabs in the last phase on May 19.
The votes will be counted on May 23.
