SP-BSP-RLD set for grand alliance formation in UP; 'Ajit Singh adamant over 4 seats'

Uttar Pradesh: After facing a major defeat in 2017 assembly elections; Bahujan Samaj Party Supremo Mayawati and Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav are set to formally announce an alliance in the state; in the wake of forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As per sources, the two is set to make an announcement via press conference in Lucknow tomorrow at 12pm. The sources also tell that the two would be contesting polls on 37 seats each. As per sources. Also, 3 seats are likely to be left for Ajit Singh's RLD.


Speaking on the alliance formation, RLD Chief Ajit Singh said that "RLD will be a part of grand alliance, but they are yet to come to consensus on seat distribution". As per reports, RLD is seeking more seats and wants to contest from Bulandshahr and Amroha seats. As per sources, RLD is not ready to contest on anything lesser than 4 seats.

The two are likely to not contest elections from Amethi and Rae Bareli seats and leave them for Congress.

According to the press invite, jointly signed by SP national general secretary Rajendra Chowdhary and BSP's national general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra, the joint-presser will be held at the five-star hotel Taj.

UP have total 80 Lok Sabha seats.

Speaking on their alliance formation, Congress said “their alliance should be welcomed, as both SP-BSP and we are fighting against the same ideology”.

Speaking on the same BJP spokesperson said that "The alliance is not going to make much of a difference to BJP in the state; as the party works on sabka sath sabka vikas model".

As the parties have come out with the formula for the state, they have left mounted troubles for BJP, which is set to suffer ion the state post the alliance formation between SP and BSP.
