"Some CCTV cameras were damaged and the office of the school's principal was ransacked by some unidentified people early Friday," Spokesperson of Delhi Catholic Archdiocese Father Savarimuthu Sankar told IANS.
Sankar said the school children have been sent back to their homes after the incident came to light.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi summoned the Police Commissioner of Delhi BS Bassi and expressed his deep concern and anguish over the rising crime rate in the Capital. The Prime Minister asked the Police Commissioner to speedily investigate the recent incidents of vandalism and ensure that the guilty are brought to book.
The Prime Minister also spoke over telephone to the Union Home Secretary LC Goyal. The Prime Minister asked the Home Secretary to pay special attention to the rising incidents of crime, and vandalism, and to work towards ensuring the safety and security of women in the Capital.
Case of Theft
"This is a case of robbery and not of desecration," Bassi told reporters.
"No religious articles in the school were harmed," said the school's principal.
Learning about the incident, HRD Minister Smriti Irani who studied in this school visited this morning. She reportedly requested Home Minister Rajnath Singh to look into the incident.
This is the sixth such attack on Christian institutions in the national capital since November last year.
In January, some unidentified groups had vandalised a church in Vasant Kunj sparking outrage among the Christian community which alleged that it is part of a "hate campaign".
After massive protests by Christian groups, Home Minister Rajnath Singh had tightened security around churches and other religious institutions.
