Raja gets bail BJP expects more to get trapped

Former telecom minister A Raja on Tuesday was granted bail in
the 2G spectrum case. The DMK MP is likely to walk out of Tihar jail today
evening after 15 months by furnishing personal and surety bonds of Rs 20
lakh each.

The court has granted bail to Raja on his furnishing personal and surety
bonds of Rs 20 lakh each. Raja, the last of the 14 individuals charged in
the case still in prison, was given bail by Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) special judge OP Saini.

PM Manmohan Singh has declined to comment on the development. "It is for

co-accused who have all been granted relief by the Supreme Court, the

The 2G case doesn't end here

Reacting to the decision, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said this was
not the end of the case but could provide an opportunity for more persons
to be made accused in the scandal.

"The case is not over. But it
will progress and will provide an opportunity to scrutinise the role
played by some others, who are not yet accused in the case, and probably
including them among the list of accused," said BJP leader Shahnawaz

Reacting to the news, Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa said the 2G
scam case was getting diluted.

DMK welcomes court's decision

The DMK today welcomed the decision of a Delhi court to grant bail to
former Telecom minister A Raja, who was arrested 15 months ago in
connection with the 2G spectrum scam. "We welcome the court's verdict and
are hopeful that he will come out and prove his innocence," DMK leader
Tiruchi Siva said reacting to the court order.
