New Delhi: In a shocking claim Retired Supreme Court Judge Justice Kurian Joseph, who was one of the four apex court judges who held a press briefing against CJI Dipak Misra on January 2018; stated that they felt that CJI was being remote controlled from outside and was allocating cases to judges with political bias.

Former SC Judge revealed details of the then turbulence while speaking to ABP News which ignited in the Supreme Court pertaining to allocation of cases.

Judge Kurian stated that this turbulence led to the unprecedented press conference by him and SC’s top three judges Justice Jasti Chelameswar, Justice Lokur and Justice Ranjan Gogoi.

He further said that senior judges were worried about the way the cases were being allocated to other judges.

In what was termed as an “extraordinary event”; Justice Chelameswar said “sometimes administration of the Supreme Court is not in order and many things which are less than desirable have happened in the last few months.” Unless this institution is preserved, “democracy will not survive” in this country.
