Assam: Final List of National Register of Citizens (NRC) Released

The final list of the NRC, which identified the bonafide citizens of the state, was published today. In the list, a total of 3,11,21,004 persons found eligible for inclusion in final NRC leaving out 19,06,657 persons including those who did not submit their claims. Prateek Hajela, State Coordinator, NRC said that hose not satisfied with the outcome can file an appeal before Foreigners Tribunals.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday asked people not to panic and said the state government will take all possible steps to help genuine Indians prove their citizenship and provide legal assistance to the poor.
