Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Maghar of Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh where he will  paid floral tribute at saint Kabir’s Samadhi and offered chadar at his Mazaar, on the occasion of his 500th death anniversary.

He will visit the Sant Kabir Cave where he will unveil a plaque to mark the laying of Foundation Stone of Kabir Academy, which will highlight the saint’s teachings and thoughts.

Government has taken this initiative so that saint Kabir’s great teachings and his memoirs can reach across the globe. His belongings and the heritage he left behind will be compiled in an international academy so that the tourist coming from far off places can know about the saint.

PM will also utilise the occasion to hold a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar. He will be addressing a public meeting in Maghar after witnessing a cultural programme.

A day ago while on his onspection of the place, UP CM Yogi Adityanath stirred a controversy by refusing the Muslim skullcap at Kabir's mazaar.

Earlier , when PM Modi was a CM he had also refused to wear the skullcap on one occasion.
