Gujarat: NDRF's rescue drill at Sardar Patel's 144th birth anniversary

The National Disaster Response Force is a specialised force constituted "for the purpose of specialist response to a threatening disaster situation or disaster" under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. The "Apex Body for Disaster Management" in India is the National Disaster Management Authority.  Earlier Modi tweeted: "Tributes to the great Sardar Patel on his Jayanti. His contribution to our nation is monumental."

Since 2014, October 31 is observed as the National Unity Day and people participate in the 'Run For Unity'.
