Sachi Ghatna: Priya Prakash Varrier's viral song runs into trouble for hurting Muslim sentiments

Updated 14 Feb 2018 08:30 PM

However, the song, Manikya Malaraya Poovi, which features Priya Prakash Varrier's viral scene, has run into trouble with a youth in Hyderabad, for supposedly hurting Muslim sentiments. A complaint has been filed against the makers of the song for allegedly besmirching a song about Prophet Muhammad and his wife.
The bone of contention is that a song with such religious overtones has been re-imagined as a song that conveys the budding romance between teenagers. The song has gone viral, with close to 15 million views on YouTube in just four days.
