In a hilarious video, Comedian John Oliver attacks Western and Indian media for coverage of Indian elections
Indian elections are the largest ones on the planet. The results of these elections will have a direct impact on not just a huge section of the world population, but also indirectly on the rest of world population due to its impact on economic and foreign policies. But they have been largely ignored by the Western media so far.
Picking up on this point Oliver, in his show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, takes digs at the American media for its bare minimum coverage of the Indian elections.
But it’s not just the media in that hemisphere that he has attacked. Oliver found fodder for hitting on the Indian media for it’s increased ‘foxification’, i.e sensationalism akin to the kind Fox News and other American news channels are known for.
Using screen shots of Indian and American news channels side by side, he has demonstrated the fact, resulting in hilarious and hard hitting commentary.
